Spruce Lane Farm is located in Woodford County, KY. Our mares are also boarded in NY at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, where they foal and are weaned. The weanlings are shipped to Spruce Lane where they are sales prepped and offered at Keeneland and Fasig Tipton Auctions or via private sale. Inquiries on mares and or foals are welcome. Atlantic Storm - 2004 - By Stormy Atlantic, from a solid Bridlewood pedigree. This is a half sister to Black Type winner Bird Run, the holder of the all time record for a mile and a sixteenth at Belmont Park. This mare has an outstanding 2009 colt by Don't Get Mad going to the races and a 2010 PA bredfilly by City Zip, and is back in foal to Rockport Harbor. Mating plans will be announced soon.
Beggers Dream -2003 - By Distorted Humor out of a multiple stakes producer by Mr. Leader who is a half sister to champion Hidden Lake. This is the family of 2008 KY Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown . This mare is not a winner, but showed great talent prior to a debilitating injury. Her first foal a filly, (2009) is by leading sire and broodmare sire Quiet American, a mating very closely duplicating that of Hidden Lake. Second foal 2010 is a filly by Consolidator. Lace and Latigo - 2007 - This is a half sister to Nina Fever! Nina Fever (by Borrego) was purchased as a weanling by McMahon Bloodstock and is now a multiple stakes placed, multiple winner (the only two year old ever to win 3 races at Keeneland as a two year old!?!?) In foal to Borrego for her first foal and booked to Utopia for the 2011 season.
Margarita Nites - 2004 - Winner by Distorted Humor out of a stakes winner by Saint Ballado. Her half brother by Speightstown was one of his sires highest priced two year olds from the 2008 two year old sales season and has become an earner of almost $600,000 in Japan. First foal by Bandini is in training for the races, second foal by Street Boss looks very good. In foal for a 2011 foal by Pollard's Vision. Booked to Touch Gold for the 2011 season
Summit Lite - 2000 - By Mt. Livermore, this $300,000 yearling is a half sister to two Graded Stakes horses. Her 2008 colt by malibu Monn brought $270,000 as a two year old in training and broke his maiden at Belmont with a 9 on the sheets. Booked to Pollard's Vision for the 2011 season.
Thira - 2000 - By Distorted Humor out of a G1 placed Akarad mare from the family of leading European sire Sinndar. Her second foal, William Thomas earned $100,000 and broke his maiden in his second start with a 90 Beyer Speed Figure.
